Alternator is done

About a month into my Escape ownership it developed a problem. Took it to the dealer and another mechanic and both said it's the alternator. I don't have a problem replacing it, it is what it is. The thing that's confusing to me is that a 4 year old car with less than 30k miles on it has a failing alternator. Is this an isolated case or a real problem with these?

Yeah, that's frustrating. I've seen a few low-mileage Escapes with early alternator failures, but it's not super common. Could just be a rare defect...luckily, replacing it usually fixes everything with no other issues
