transmission issue on 2020 ford escape

My friend is really interested in my ford escape, so he bought a used 2020 Ford Escape with around 50,000 miles and likes it.
However, sometimes when he tries to speed up, the engine revs high without much acceleration.

There was a humming noise, then the RPMs dropped, and a "4WD Temporarily Disabled" message appeared with an orange "i" symbol. The "i" goes away after some driving.

I think that the 4WD to the rear wheels is slipping, causing the car to disable it.

But that's just my opinion. E's gonna take the car to the dealer this weekend

Eh, it's really hard to buy a secondhand car. I got no issue with it and would do it but it would have been better if your friend brought a mechanic with him during the purchase.

Sounds like the 4WD system might be temporarily disabling itself due to overheating. It's worth getting the system checked out, especially if it's happening often. since it could be a sensor issue or something else causing it to overheat prematurely.
