Accelerator pedal clicks when it wants to

The wife has been driving a '20 Escape SEL AWD and while she loves the car, there's 1 strange noise we can't ignore. Every now and then, the accelerator pedal clicks when she presses or releases it. Of course, when we took it to the dealer, it refused to make a sound. Classic. Has anyone else dealt with this or are we officially hearing things?

Some 2020 Escape owners have reported a clicking accelerator pedal, often tied to loose bushings, driveline slack or even a misaligned pedal assembly. If it's happening at low speeds or when feathering the gas check the pedal pivot point and surrounding components. Have you noticed if it happens more when the car is cold or after a long drive?

Thanks for the reassurance The clicking seems more noticeable when the car is cold but it's hard to pin down since it plays hide and seek so well. I'll look into the pedal pivot point and surrounding components next time it acts up.

Yeeah that intermittent cold start thing is a real headscratcher. Let us know what you find with the pedal area, might help someone else chasing the same ghost noise.

Wanted to give a final update on that clicking accelerator pedal mystery in our Escape. Took the advice to check the pedal assembly up close and sure enough a little lube on the pivot point silenced it for good. Appreciate it @Corn_Coronel18
