After hitting 70k miles, my Ford 2020 Escape had a rough idle. Did change the oil, air filter thats about 27k-28k miles old, and plugs. Them plugs looked rough due to the turbo and the first one was a pain to remove, needed special tools. New plugs and air filter made the idle much smoother and improved my MPG. Definitely recommend changing them ofc. The air filter design is also annoying to replace. And Ive ordered a special socket for the plugs next time.

As of now, I'm not yet having any troubles with my 2025 Escape other than the key fob issue, but I'm following this thread. I need to do these things on my own because I'm really stingy, I admit, I don't want to pay for other people's labor if I know I can DIY then I hae to learn as early as now.

Sounds like those old plugs were the culprit, especially with the turbo. Smart move getting the special socket for next time!

Great decision on those swaps! That first plug can be tricky, using a thin-wall 5/8" socket along with a wobble extension really helps out. Those turbo mills definitely chew through plugs quicker. Changing the air filter can be a bit of a hassle on these, but it's definitley worth it

Agree. The swaps are much needed. Thinking ahead on that sprocket thing will do you good in the future. Trust me on this.

I had similar rough idle around 65k on my 2020 SEL, pulled the plugs and two looked pretty cooked, I swapped in the new ones, did the air filter (agreed, that box design is a pain), and it smoothed right out. and the mpg went back up too. That special thin wall, wish I had it the first time, would've saved my knuckles

Honestly, swapping out plugs and the air filter can work wonders! And I totally agree those slim-wall tools are absolutely a lifesaver when you're trying to squeeze into those tight spaces

Sorry i'm curious… what kind of issue are you having with the key fob? Havent run into anything with mine yet, but i'd like to know what to watch out for.
