Let me just say, incase anyone finds themselves here, I hope this helps. My 2018 Escape SE had me pulling my hair out, like the radio would randomly not turn on, get stuck in initializing, or power up with no sound at all, just totally inconsistent and infuriating, especially during my daily commute. so I took it to the dealer twice, of course, it worked perfectly for them "couldn't replicate the issue."...right. Oh well..so I decided to take matters into my own hands, disconnected the battery, left it off for 15 20 minutes, then did a full hard reset of the sync 3 system and voila..it's been working flawlessly for over a week.
so yeah, if anyone else with a 2017 to 2019 escape is having radio issues, definitely try this before letting the dealer waste your time.

Oh man, I had this happen to me once and was never able to replicate it again. It has been bothering me for a while and I'll keep your guide in mind for next time this happens to me. Does everything work fully once this is done or is there something else I'll need to do?

Thanks for sharing this, I bet it'll save a lot of people frustration. Hard resets can work wonders, especially with these intermittent issues
