Service engine light issue?

I've been facing a remote start problem with my '19 Escape and noticed the service engine light is on. The remote start goes through the usual routine turning over the engine but won't fully start. Could the service engine light be throwing a wrench in the system?

Well, most probably yes. Computer box was the first one to pop in my mind. You can try resetting it with a scanner (not sure if thats what you call it).

Use your trusty ol' OBD scanner if you want to be sure. If the service light is on for me, I always make it a point to actually go. I don't want any long-term issue.

Yeaaah, the service engine light can disable remote start because that's a safety feature? Like it's avoiding you to start an engine that's about to fail. So use a scanner like @shades of clay suggested here. Fix then clear the codes.

You were right though. Turns out a sensor was throwing a tantrum. Got it fixed, cleared the code and now remote start works like it never had trust issues. Appreciate the help yall!
